Guiding Principles for Ethics for Board Members

Responsibilities of Board Members/Advisors

Attend all board and committee meetings and as many functions, and special events, as possible.

Prepare for board and committee meetings by reviewing the meeting agenda and supporting materials.

Serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments when your capacity allows.

Assist the entire board in carrying out all of its responsibilities, i.e. Standing Rules, Bylaws, Financial statements, Minutes, Events, HOA, General Board Meetings, supplies, etc. We are a TEAM.

Cross Train when possible to assist other board members if needed.

Ethical Conduct for Board Members and Advisors

Recognize that the chief function of Smashers Pickleball Club board is to serve the best interests of the majority of our members

Keep our membership informed about issues affecting the Club and them.

Accept as a personal duty the responsibility to keep up-to-date on the emerging issues and to conduct ourselves with professional competency, fairness, impartiality, efficiency and effectiveness.

Respect the structure and responsibilities of the board and uphold and implement VOTED ON policies adopted by the board, even if you do not agree, if properly passed..

Conduct our Club and operational duties with positive leadership exemplified by open communications, creativity, dedication, and compassion.

Serve with respect, concern, courtesy, and responsiveness in carrying out the Smashers mission to ALL members.

Demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, honesty, and fortitude in all our activities in order to inspire confidence and trust in our activities.

Avoid any interest or activity that is in conflict with the conduct of our official duties.

Protect and Respect privileged information to which we have access in the course our duties. Some issues discussed in board meetings should not be discussed outside of the board meeting until appropriate time.

Code of Conduct

Board members and advisors will not do the following:

  1. Deceive, defraud, or mislead our membership via our word or our actions.
  2. Divulge or release any personal information regarding any ongoing disciplinary actions.
  3. Engage in any unethical actions detrimental to the good order of the Smashers Pickleball Club.
  4. Use any Smashers Pickleball Club property, financial resources for personal benefit.
  5. Use their position on the Board to gain personal favor or gain personal benefit
