Smashers Community Outreach Program

Local Parks

Auburndale Community Center

Visited and played at Auburndale Community Center to get some ideas on presenting their model to our local park

Arrington

Checked out the basketball court at the Arrington facility on Cypress Parkway and it would be a playable surface. However, after multiple attempts at offering a camp with everything provided free of cost, they still want us to “rent” the court for $40/hour

Local Schools

David Marks (pictured here with Patti Greenberg), a Smashers member and Pickleball Apes representative, has provided 45 new paddles to be donated to local schools.

New Dimensions HS

Donated paddles for the past few years and they have enough. GOAL is to continue to offer demo and teaching for their PE classes

GOAL: Demo and teach PE classes. Also offered to teach /play pickleball as a team building for their faculty

Mater Academy

Patti Greenberg and Lynn Moreno providing paddle donations at Mater Academy

Taught faculty this past year and was VERY well received.  Their new facility/multi purpose room was just completed and Principal hopes to run an after school pickleball program.

Donated 25 new Pickleball Apes paddles in July

GOAL: teach and demo for elementary school age students in their new facility

Once we teach Mater Academy elementary school age students, we can offer pickleball to KOA and Deerwood Elementary Schools

Fire Departments

Polk County Fire Station #37 (Solivita, Cypress Pkwy)

Selkirk Growth Program supplied 8 free paddles

Steve Harrison & Patti Greenberg gave them a Selkirk net, 2 new Selkirk paddles and balls all provided from funds from PSG bake sale

Polk County Fire Station #46  (Marigold Ave.)

Selkirk Growth Program paperwork to be filled out for free paddles. Selkirk net, 2 new Selkirk paddles and balls to be donated from funds from PSG bake sale

Osceola County Fire Station (Cypress Parkway, opening in August)

Selkirk Growth Program paperwork to be filled out for free paddles. Selkirk net, 3 new Selkirk paddles and balls to be donated from funds from PSG bake sale

GOALS for Fire Stations:  Provide equipment listed for each

Selkirk has a program to provide 3000 paddles a year for First Responders. Selkirk Growth Program would enable Smashers to purchase nets, paddles and balls at half price for Fire Stations. Their “Prime Net” sells for $120 and our cost is $60. Paddles selling for $50 or more would be $20. The new Osceola Fire Station will have 7-10 firemen initially and we are hoping to present them pickleball equipment at their Grand Opening.
