In order to smoothly run the Solivita Smashers Pickleball Club, volunteers are needed to assist on various committees. If you are interested in helping out on a committee, please fill out the form below and a Committee Chair will be in touch when volunteers are needed. If you believe you have already volunteered for a committee, please check to see if your name is on the List of Volunteer Submissions.
Activities
Runs various events throughout the year for Smashers members, including, but not limited to the New Year’s Eve Games, Spring Picnic, Smashers Dances, Halloween Games and others. Volunteers are needed to for these events, including managing ticket sales, arranging venues, setting up and tearing down at venues, etc.
Communications
Maintains the Smashers membership database, runs the solivitasmashers.com website and communicates with members through e-mail and the website. Volunteers are needed to help develop and test new website tools and functionalities and to assist in posting information to the website.
Tournaments
Smashers hosts several tournaments per year as well as assists in hosting the Solivita Olympics pickleball tournament and the pickleball portion of the Polk Senior Games. Volunteers are needed to set up and tear down tents, tables, etc. at tournaments, monitor courts, sell tickets, clean and dry courts as well as other activities during tournament play.
Court Utilization
As part of continuing efforts to maximize the utilization of the available courts, several subcommittees have been reactivated, including Team Play, Open Play and Event Management. The Team Play subcommittee is focused on refining the rules for court allocation for teams and the process by which teams are assigned courts. The Open Play subcommittee is focused on how to improve the Members Only Open and use available court slots for open play. The Event Management subcommittee is working to determine how to execute special events such as PSG and Smashers tournaments, as well as supporting our Travel Teams.
General
There are a large number of other activities and projects that Smashers supports throughout the year and we welcome volunteers who are willing and able to jump in as needed for these activities.
Training
Provide training to Smashers members as part of the Smashers training program, including Newbies, New Beginnings, Plant the Seed, Foundations, Drop-in Clinic, Sharpen Your Skills and other programs
New Courts
The committee’s mission is to develop a comprehensive plan, considering site options, cost estimates, and timelines. Once the committee is formed, a town hall meeting will be held to gather input from club members. The final outcome will be a detailed recommendation for the new courts.
Strategic Planning
The committee’s mission is to develop a 3–5-year strategic plan to guide the growth, development, and sustainability of the Pickleball Club, aligning with the club’s mission, values, and long-term goals.
