Each set of courts has its own paddle queue and use of that set of courts is governed by the paddle queue adjacent to the entrance to that set of courts. For example, at the Palms, there are two sets of courts, each with its own paddle queue. Courts 15 & 16 are governed by one queue and courts 17 & 18 are governed by another.
During Smashers Open Play or All Resident Open Play (courts 10 & 17), a paddle queue system to fairly determine the next players to play on an open court. Each paddle queue is divided in color-coded queues which define the next four players to use a court in order. The queue starts with the paddles closest to the entrance door adjacent to the queue.
Paddle Queue Rules
Members may play in open play by placing their paddle in the end (highest #) of the queue when they arrive.
Players with paddles in the first four slots in the queue take the first court available in the set of courts adjacent to that queue.. The next four players take the next available court
Thereafter, when a game is completed, an equal number of players rotate out as there are players waiting with their paddles in the queue. If four or more paddles are queued, all four players finishing their game leave the court and the four new players enter. If fewer than four players are queued, the players who have played the longest should leave the court and the waiting players should take their place. Players leaving the court can immediately place their paddles in the queue to play again.
Players who decide to skip their turn in the queue should move their paddles to the end of the queue. Only a player is allowed to move their own paddle except for sliding all paddles forward when a queue is emptied by players entering the court. No players should rearrange paddles in the queue to create a favorable matchup or to enter the courts ahead of other players.
Smashers members who play in a league that has the court reserved after an open play session are entitled to queue their paddles during open play but should be considerate of open play members who are not participating in a league.
